Interview with head nurse at Ranmawot Dispensary
Ranmawot Dispensary has an interesting history, established initally during colonial times as a hospital. Despite being built in the circa ~1970s purportedly from zinc, it was in remarkably good condition for its age, prior to Cyclone Harold. Now, as you can see, the whole development has been reduced to rubble. This represents a phenomenal loss of health infrastructure to the area.
Herein, we speak with Kaylene Tabi, who is the nurse in charge at the dispensary. She tells us they have lost everything – all the buildings, and all the equipment, minus a few bottles of drugs and medicines that were stored in a watertight cupboard. She appeals to the public, all over the world, to chip in with fundraising efforts to help them to rebuild. The task ahead is phenomenal.
