Interview with Pastor John, Tanbok Village

In this interview , Pastor John in Tanbok Village (where we plan to build our next library/classroom), discusses how the village people were able to use the school for shelter during the cyclone.

He says that many people are still sleeping at the school, as their houses are destroyed, and they are struggling to find the materials they need to repair them. He discusses the damage to the gardens (which are located down in the valleys), and how hard it is even to trek over the fallen trees and debris just to get there. They need (but don’t have any) chainsaws just to cut a route through. He adds that even though they are facing a challenging time, some families have already replanted some kumala (sweet potato) and manioc (cassava) gardens, and have even prepared cuttings for their families in the Melsisi area – who were even more severely impacted.

He concludes by stating a firm faith that the NDMO will step in to help, and he thanks them – and all donors – profusely.
